BBQ Pull-Apart

Better than the bakery!

  • 4 1/2 cups bread mix
  • 4 tsp yeast
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 300 mL milk
  • 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp mixed herbs
  • 2 tsp onion flakes
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 2-3 cups grated cheese
Instructions
  1. Warm milk to just hotter than luke-warm. Add sugar ad yeast and allow to proof in warm spot. Combine most of bread mix, garlic, herbs and onion flakes. Work in yeast mix, butter and eggs. Knead until dough is silky smooth adding in remaining bread mix as necessary. Set in warm place covered with damp cloth to rise until doubled in size (Times for this will vary greatly depending on temperature. Summer in western qld; it takes about 20 min, winter in Toowoomba; allow an hour just in case). Roll out to approximately the size of a biscuit tray. Spread with bbq sauce and sprinkle over onion and most of cheese. Roll into a log and chop slices (like scrolls). Arrange by snuggling the scrolls up alternating from side to side in a braid-like pattern. Cover with damp cloth and allow to rise again.Sprinkle last of cheese over the top and bake at 160 deg cel for approx 40 min.

The Ramblings

As a lover of all things sugar, having a dear friend who doesn’t like sweet things initially floored me, what on earth do I feed her?!?!!

Yeast to the rescue, savoury pull-aparts have become a staple for feeding Kate. They are also my go to for popping in the freezer to send away with my boys when they are working at different properties where we have sheep on agistment.

PS Note the flowers in the background, Mr Right earned himself many brownie points with those!
