Simply a little bit fancy
- 125 g butter
- 250 g cream cheese
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups plain flour
-
Pop butter in a saucepan and cook over low heat until nicely browned. Cream together sugar and cream cheese then gradually add in butter. Add in flour and beat until well combined. Roll tsps of dough and push down. To make a pretty pattern I pushed down with discs of a biscuit press. Bake at 180 deg cel until bottoms are lightly browned.
These Brown Butter Cream Cheese biscuits are one of Matt’s new favourites as they are beautifully soft and chewy inside! If you are looking for other scrumptious cream cheese biccies, check these out:
The Ramblings:
Our move East has been good on many front, mainly being closer to Mum and old friends, however it has come with many adjustments. I didn’t realise how many things I’d forgotten I loved about being West because they had become ‘normal’. By far the biggest one has been vanity and superficial-ness (it’s a word now….). Don’t get me wrong there are exceptions on both side of the ledger but as a generalisation, gosh I miss the down to earth wholesomeness of western people and communities.
No one thinks any more or less of you because of whether or where you went to uni. Or what labels are on your clothes. And rarely is a serious topic of conversation your skin/hair care rituals or where/how often you get your mani/pedi.
I miss ducking into town in a workshirt because Matt needs an xyz picked up ASAP and while in there, grabbing a quick coffee or few groceries without anyone looking at you sideways. And while I’m whinging, rarely when I was West did anyone ask me ‘what I do for a living’ and pull a face when I said stay at home Mum/ managers soon to be wife. Now I always feel the need to chuck in author and event coordinator too, like somehow raising a human and helping my partner in his career (which feeds our family), isn’t enough. Grrrrrrrr…..
Enough doom and gloom from me, just safe to say I am incredibly homesick for living west and so so so so so so so so excited for Hazel and my trip coming up in a little over a week! Not even packing a hairbrush!!!! Woooooohoooooo!!!!
