Comfort food at it's finest!
- ¾ cup milk (warm)
- 1 tbsp yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 3½ cups bread mix
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 185 g butter (soft)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp custard powder
- 3 apples (chopped)
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp mixed spice
Proof yeast in milk with sugar. Using a dough hook attachment beat yeast mix with all other dough stuff except butter until all flour is encorporated. Use a bit of common sense and if you used giant eggs and have a really sticky mix, add a touch more flour. Add butter and keep beating until dough comes together. It will take a while, have faith… Roll out on flour and knead into a ball. Set aside to rise for about an hour. While waiting, over low heat whisk together milk, sugar and custard powder until nice and thick. Set aside to cool. Mix up apples with spices.
Roll out dough, smear with custard, sprinkle over apples and roll up. Chop and arrange in baking dish. Let rise for half an hour. Bake at 180 deg cel til golden and cooked through. If you want, drizzle with icing.
