Grandma’s Snickerdoodles

I never got to eat Grandma’s Snickerdoodles made by her, however since getting her book, I’ll never use another recipe.

Grandma’s Snickerdoodles

Classically delicious

Ingredients
  • 2 cups SR flour
  • salt
  • 125 g butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla. Stir in flour. Shape into balls and roll in cinnamon sugar. Place on trays and flatten with bottom of glass. Bake at 180 deg cel for approximately 10 min.

Recipe Notes

If using gluten free flour, add an extra quarter cup and let sit for 10 min before rolling. I’m not overly sure on the science of it, but I find that giving gluten free flour a few minutes to ‘sop it up’ seem to prevent needing too much more flour and in turn stops things being overly dry. Not sure, but that’s what works for me.

If you are a total cinnamon nut like me, its’ worth checking out these:

The Ramblings:

Hazel had her needles yesterday in town and has a fever and is a bit out of sorts… Fun! Don’t know why I bothered driving to town for it, Matt was giving sheep vaccines this morning. Should’ve just chucked her in the race for a jab too.

(Don’t call DOCS, I am kidding….)

Over the last week we have had oodles of people staying at the Currajong Hilton. Was so so lovely to see so many people so dear, however I’m afraid our rating on trip advisor will probably take a hit. I won’t be surprised for comments such as :

“Well meaning hosts, however the man swears like a drunken sailor and the woman looks somewhat deranged, but the baby is pretty cute.”

“Beautifully renovated home, however, the service left something to be desired… I was told nobody cared if I didn’t find a clean cup, I had a heartbeat and could wash one myself….”

“If the woman spent half the time she spent knitting cleaning, it would have been much more habitable…”

Whoops!!!! Ah well. It was just so lovely to have this big old house full of love and laughter and to have those we love join us in this chaos we call home.

Ps, for all those feeding gluten free people, living closer to my ceoliac friend from school means there will be more gluten free recipes and adaptations coming your way! I’ve been heartened by how well some recipes, like Grandma’s Snickerdoodles.
