Caramel ANZAC Slice
A decadent twist on an old favorite
Ingredients
- 1 cup dates
- 125 g butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp golden syrup
- 1 tsp bicarb soda
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1 tin condensed milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup coconut
- 2 cups rolled oats
Instructions
Cover dates in boiling water to soften. In a saucepan bring butter, syrup and sugar to the boil and let caramelise for a few moments. Remove from heat and sitr in bicarb. Mix in everything else including drained dates. Pop in a slice tin and chuck it in the oven at 180 deg cel until centre is firm.

Best I don’t ramble today. Mum always says if I don’t have anything nice to say….. All I have to offer today is whingings about Matt’s lack of splinter removing finess and the shittiness of getting flu-y as it’s heating up, but much to Matt’s happiness my voice has left the building.
