5 ingredients and simply scrumptious
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 1¾ cups SR flour
- pinch salt
- 2 tbsp honey
Combine the brown sugar, honey and milk in a microwave safe jug. Nuke until warm and stir until honey and sugar have dissolved in nicely. Stir through flour and salt. Pop in a loaf tin and bake in a slow oven (about 130 deg cel) until a skewer comes out clean. Ice if desired while slightly warm with a stiff buttercream.
I know my method is a little different to Gma’s, however, in chilly Toowoomba weather this morning I had a lot more success convincing the rock solid honey to mix in this way. Suit yourself but either works!
The Ramblings:
We are really getting to the pointy end now! Despite all the indications she was going to make an early appearance, apparently Miss Hazel is still as snug as a bug…. Her eviction notice has been issued though and at the very latest she will be entering the world on Monday morning!!! Woohooo!!!! My poor big brother and his fam have been struck down with flu (negative rona tests though) so sadly haven’t been able to do much with them at all the last week. This morning I felt like a bake though, so popped a loaf of Grandma’s Honey Bread on their front steps in the hopes that the medicinal properties of baking work their magic!
